I have so much to catch up on blog-wise, but I just had to post another late breaking-news bulletin!  Siena will kill me for this someday, but I’m so proud, I just had to post this!

On Monday night, right after her bath, Siena hopped up on her step stool and proudly shouted, “PEE PEE!”  I didn’t think anything of it, but looked down and found that she had just gone pee pee on the step stool!  Despite the mess, I had to smile…and wondered…is she ready for potty training?  Seems too early…

At her 18 month check-up on Thursday, Siena was trying to pull her diaper down and the doctor asked me if I had started potty training yet.  I told her no and she said I should start trying because she thought Siena might be ready for it.

When you are preparing to be a parent, you really don’t envision yourself in the potty aisle at Wal-mart, for an ungodly amount of time, comparing each and every feature and schooling yourself on the ways of toddler toilets.  But, there I was looking at toilets and after careful analysis, ended up walking away with the cheapest one they had.  She’s just going to pee in it!  Seriously people!

I assembled the potty today and showed it to Siena for the first time.  She was interested in it and sat on it, but that was about it.  We went out for the evening, but when we came home, Siena really wanted to get on her new potty.  I’m not about to say no to this!  I helped her get on and she smiled the whole time she was on there and then got up.  I figured nothing was in there, but sure enough!  That kid went pee pee on her potty for the first time!  SO proud!  She got an M&M and a kitty sticker she picked out!

We’ve had a million different things going on in our lives, but this was worthy of an “emergency blog”!  I don’t think we’ve “arrived” at potty training yet, but a mama’s heart couldn’t be more proud for the first successful attempt!  Way to go, Siena!
